Free downloadable wavs?

Could anyone tell me where to find professional qaulity wavs online?

Google the "web" (not "groups") on "sound effects" + wav and you will find many more.

Need something specific for a project newkid? Maybe we can help you out with one or two. Generally those free sites will not satisfy your professional needs, and we end up purchasing collections. You might even try eBay to make a start with FX at really budget prices .. at eBay search: sound fx and sound effects. Another tip is to search the word foley, this is what the movie business calls sound fx.

Sorry Chris, I can't leave the link there. If you check back to the parent directory you'll find that they've illegally placed a complete Audition 1 upgrade there, complete with serial number - and another couple of items similarly. If you want to download the SFX and put them somewhere else on their own, that would be fine - I can't find any copyright claim on them, and it's not a collection that I'm familiar with. Can't help thinking that this may possibly not be legit either, though... since they've been classified as removed from CDs.

My fault for not looking more carefully - just one of the links I ran across at some point. Quite a cooincidence there being an Audition upgrade in there!

I use bigfishproductions.com  Ian makes some great stuff, you get new parts every week that you download from his website.  Its only $15 per month, so it doesn't break the bank either.

There's a few "free sample" SFX here at Hollywood Edge...

The problem I've had with most free samples I've found is that they are usually of bad quality. Distorted sound, low sampling rate, clipped short so the sound doesn't "breathe" etc.
