Hi all

I have two CD Drives in my PC. One DVD-Writer on te second IDE port as master, and one DVD-Rom on the second IDE port as slave.

When I insert a music CD in the DVD-Writer, on the bottom part of Cool edit cum numbers. When I select one of these numbers, that song is playing and I can make a record of this song . Afterwards I can save is as a Wave-file to use it as a soundtrack in Adobe Premiere.
When I insert a music CD in the DVD-ROM drive, on the bottom of Cool edit is a warning NO CD.
It is not possible to play a song from the DVD-ROM. Cool edit don't recognise a music CD in the DVD-ROM drive.

Because a DVD-Writer is expensive I will use it no more then necessary. Therefore I will change the configuration so that I can use the DVD-ROM as a music player instead of the DVD-Writer.
I can not change master and slave in my PC, then the DVD-Writer doesn’t work properly.

The operating system I ame using is Windows XP Prof.
The version of the program is Cooledit 2000.

We're not ignoring you - I'll see if I can figure out the answer later. I have a feeling that this isn't a Cool Edit problem, and relates to the way that your PC is set up. This will probably be a software issue, not a hardware one though - you won't have to move drives around or anything.

Unless somebody already knows...

Gemonds,

I would suggest to use a tool like Exact Audio copy (www.exactaudiocopy.de))

Now, back on the problem:

How do you log in? As administrator or as user?

Hi

Thanks for anwering

I ame loged on as administrator.

In the meantime I have find out something. In the drive management I have chaned the drive letters of the two CD-Roms and now I can play audio CD’s in my DVD-ROM and no longer from the DVD-Writer.

I think that Cool edit always take the drive with the lowest drive letter. Is that correct?

No - it uses whichever drive is set as the default player in Windows.
