Hi all,

I'm in trouble with cda tracks and Audition 3

Can't import .cda tracks  huh .

Tried anything - ASPI/SPTI config. , tried reinstalling Audition, tried importing Tracks as PCM raw .... but nothing worked:  "Impossible to open file. Selected File type is unsupported"

Please, I know I can exctract .cda with EAC or similar ( tried EAC and it works on the same pc) ... but I want to have Audition fully functionant.  angry

What can I do. I saw another forum user got the same issue with Audition 2.0 and solved; I tried to contact him.... replied in his post but he seems to be disappeared.

Please any suggest would be appreciated.. wink

Thx

WWW

If the CD's are in anything less than brand new condition then stick with EAC.

Cheers

James.

May be I've been misunderstood

I know how to import/extrac a track from a cd - in audition too.

But when I try to o it I got an error message :

"Impossible to open file. Selected File type is unsupported"

Ie: I want to insert audio from CD ( a .cda Karaoke track) ...
well if I try to insert audio .... i receive the error message.

If i try to import a track or import the cd tracks  into audition I receive the error message.

It was working in my previous PC with windows XP - I did it numbered times

- Now I have  Windows 7 and It doesn't

Might this be that the previous PC imported the audio via an analogue cable and through the soundcard, whereas the new PC might take the CD's contents as digital data? I have a feeling this might make it possible to extract, but not import tracks.

No such thing as a .cda Karaoke track - they are CD+G to take account of the graphics.

And it wouldn't surprise me in the slightest if W7 didn't support CD+G format as it stands. Audition decodes CDA if you are logged on as an administrator, but I have a suspicion that there have always been issues with some of the more obscure formats. Chances are that there was a .flt that took account of CD+G, but often these are based on having an OS that's 'sympathetic' to them anyway, and it sounds as though it's not happening in W7.

That's not about CD+G tracks.

I'm talking about normal standard .cda tracks.

The problem is , i put a cd audio in my DVD-CDrom player ( Unit D: )
try to listen or import tracks in audition.

That is not possible.

nothing else.

Do you have administrator privileges on this machine? If you don't, CD extraction is limited by MS policy, which you'd have to override.

I never tried this when I had Windows 7 here, but I've just checked on 3 machines and it works fine on XP, Vista 32 and Vista 64. What we need is someone here to confirm that their Windows 7 works OK.

I have Win 7 and AA3 and can confirm that "Extract Audio from CD" works exactly as expected.

Jeff, he's not complaining about extracting audio from CD, he wants to put a cd in the machine, bring up the import list of .cda tracks, and import tracks into edit view or to a session. At least that's what I've been checking!

Here, it says "reading cda data" and "Using CDDA filter" and it does work.

I'm wondering if there's a problem with the ASPI drivers.

I'm wondering if there's a problem with the ASPI drivers.

Aspi drivers aren't used in Win7 or Windows Vista... so Audition use SPTI by default.
But I even tried both of them.

It doesn't work. Nor with ASPI, nor with SPTI.
