Hey...

I have been using Adobe 1.5 for most of my radio career, and I was wondering if someone could help direct me in finding a plugin.

I know adobe has a plugin to shift the pitch of a voice to sound like the classic Sonovox.

Does anyone know where I can get it???

Thanks,

The closest Audition has is the Vocoder in MV - and that doesn't really get that close to doing what a Sonovox does - which isn't surprising when you consider how a Sonovox works. A Sonovox feeds an external sound source to a resonant cavity (your mouth) by way of the larynx, whilst the vocoder only modulates an external sound around a voice stimulus - sounds similar when you describe it, but there isn't any real comparison. All attempts I've ever heard at simulating a Sonovox have fallen way short of the real thing. I have most of the bits to build one (it's not difficult) but haven't really had the time to do it. Partly, it has to be said, because I don't have the need to... (it was only ever an 'interesting' project)

The other thing about Sonovox technique to note is that the artistes who used them had to learn and practice the technique quite a bit - there's apparently quite a skill to it, and it can give your throat and vocal tract quite a hard time, so you really don't want to do too much of it in one go!

There's a thread with more info, and a picture, here read both pages). Despite what one person suggests on the thread, you can't really get the same effect with a vocoder...

I thought this might be an interesting update to my question... with an answer!

I was able to find a plugin that gave me the sound I was looking for...

It is in the "Waves" plugins, and it is called Morphoder...

You will want to use the preset "Robbie" and mess with the little keyboard at the bottom of the window to adjust the key of the track...

It sounds pretty cool, it just takes a little time to master!
