Hello. CEP as you know is capable of recording up to 64 stereo tracks. It's really difficult to say exactly how many tracks you can lay down at a time, as there are many factors involved, ie, ram, speed of machine, amount of applications running in the background, sound card/drivers, etc.
Certainly, more ram can only help your machine. The fact is that a PII/300 should probably allow you to do 8-tracks at a time without much headache..it's just hard to say. I'd give it a shot with your current configuration and see how it runs. If you are running into some skipping/garbling/clicking problems, you may only need to adjust some of your buffer settings from within CEP. Email support@syntrillium.com for details on optimizing your system for playback/record.
