TBD Posts: 2	Posted - Sat Dec 16, 2000 9:55 pm  How many tracks can I record in Cool Edit Pro if I have a Pentium II 300 with 64MB RAM and a 20 Gig HD and a if I get a Layla sound card? Is my PC fast enough? Should I get more RAM if I want to record 8 tracks at the same time?

It's really difficult to say exactly how many tracks you can lay down at a time, as there are many factors involved, ie, ram, speed of machine, amount of applications running in the background, sound card/drivers, etc. Certainly, more ram can only help your machine. The fact is that a PII/300 should probably allow you to do 8-tracks at a time without much headache..it's just hard to say. I'd give it a shot with your current configuration and see how it runs. If you are running into some skipping/garbling/clicking problems, you may only need to adjust some of your buffer settings from within CEP.
