at one point i tried everything (except ionizer).i had a number of old cassettes and vinyl to clean up.i was surprised to find that i liked the nr in cep even better than dart pro-a dedicated vinyl restoration program.its not the fastest-just produced the best results.

I have both the Cool Edit 2000 Clean Up pack & Sonic Foundry noise reduction 2.0.I mainly use the Sonic Foundy pluga(TV & Film Post),but mind you its more expensive than the Cool Edit plug. But worth having if you use a lot'a noise reduction.

I also have both, and they are very comparable. I think CE200 is easier to use. And MS is right...its ALLOT cheaper than CE, and do you really think anyone in this forum is going to tell you how to get it for free

I've used alot of NR plugs...SonicFoundry...Spectral Designs...DART. I've even used DINR. DINR (pronounced dinner) is an expensive TDM plug in for the ProTools Platform. We were trying to remove some noise on a tape recording for a court case using DINR. It cost more...it's ProTools...it gotta sound better right? WRONG! Guess what we wound up finally using. Yep CoolEdit 2000 noise reduction.

Hey guys, I think the BEST plug in for noise reduction is ray gun. Check out the www.arboreitum.com You can download a demo of it.

I think RayGun does a good job when you need light to moderate hiss removal, and it all will remove 60 cycle hum and turntable rumble at the same time. When I need some heavy duty hiss removal, CEP seems to be the best.

Don't any of you guys ever use search engines? Strangely enough the Steinberg Denoiser is to be found on the Steinberg website - try http://service.steinberg.net/webdoc.nsf/show/demos_pc_e

Look under Plug-Ins.

Hi KBL,

Thx for Denoiser. i've installed it, but getting it to work is a little confusing. I'm using it with Cool Edit 2000. Could you perhaps give me an explanation on how you would use this for noise filtering or reduction? Thx.

I just found this new Player with a decoder and encoder it's also a CD ripper. Here the description from the site. www.lumenati.com

Lumenati Basic is a Free MP3/DVD/CD/Streaming Audio and Video player.
The player has a universal ripper for super large files, encoder and decoder, allowing you organize music your way. The Free download includes 30 days of free CD ripping. To infinitely burn and rip cd's, simply upgrade to the MAX Player. Add an optional TV tuner card and you can watch TV on your PC. It's an easy to use personal browser based jukebox player. Works on all Windows 98/2000/ME."

I've been using it to edit CD's and DVD's it's awesome and smooth great controls and its smart.
