Is it possible to record radio broadcast received with IE 5.0 browser?
Trying it with CEP I obtain an error message sayig roughly (those localized WIN versions!): MMSYSTEM004 Equipment used. Wait till is free.
Any hint, suggestion?
Thanks!

Hi there. This error means that your sound card is being used by another application that is preventing Cool Edit from accessing the sound card. This can be caused by applications like Real Audio that run in the near the clock on the task bar or perhaps IE's own playback device. Try switching CE's Wave Playback device to something other than your soundcard and see if that helps. Options>Settings>Devices

Thanks for the reply.

This I/O conflict reminders to me a program I have seen in the past with the name Virtual Audio Cable which can redirect one output to many inputs. And it WORKS !

Find it at: http://www.ntonyx.com/vac.html, download a demo version.

Install VAC as described in vac.txt file
Other settings:

Windows 98 Control Panel / Multimedia:
Playback: Virtual Cable 1 Out
Record: your sound card

Audio Repeater (part of VAC):
Sample Rate 44100, Bits per sample: 16
Wave in: Virtual Cable 1 In
Wave out: your sound card
Hit START button

Cool Edit Options / Settings / Devices:
Playback: your sound card
Record: Virtual Cable 1 In
File / New / 44100 kHz, 16 bit Stereo
RECORD !

Still one problem: I am not able to attenuate the recorded sound.

Check out 'Total Recorder' at http://www.highcriteria.com/. It cost US$12 and is quite nice for capturing web broadcasts. It has a timer, but no internet 'tuner'. It hooks into your sound card's software. Can be set up to convert audio to mp3's as you record. The demo will allow you to record 40 seconds. No, I haven't tried it with multiple sound cards.

Hi Rusty,

thanks for the suggestion. I tried to record with the settings as I described above. Although I have a good 64 kb/s microwave connection to my provider, and I leave my computer during the record in peace (no other tasks) the record was temporarily broken. Because I would like to record classical music - duration 10 mins and up, I am this moment somewhat skeptical about the results. But I try the the program you suggested though.
