I am undertaking the task of recording my rare LPs to CD-R and I am trying to do it properly (without going overboard). I own a Technical SL-1600 turntable that currently has an unknown cartridge and a Stanton Stylus (unknown model).

Just to make sure that I am doing this properly, does anyone have any recommendations on a replacement cartridge and stylus for me?

I have a Empire Quad Cardrige,40000D/3 (Has 3 Vertical Lines)
Tracking forces Set @ 1 gram on my pioneer Pl-530 Turntable.
This cardrige is very expensive,& today it would cost nearly a $1000.00 dollars!
I paid back in 1973 $350.00 for it.
The noise leval is extramely low on playing any of my old Lp records.
But is this one suited for playback for converting it to digital? I suppose any good cardrige is ok.
Tip: Do not use anything to clear away dust, etc. Use Dust Off Compressed-gas duster only.
I have 500+ Lp records I will burn,& installed in wave files, & hope most of them will be converted into PC Digital.
Ok guys, lets hear what you have,as a good cardrige, is imperative for recording,& reducing the noise problem.
