I create music with Cakewalk on my computer, using a SoundBlaster Live card. There are many lovely SoundFont files available; however, I would love to be able to adjust the EQ on individual voices without having to: dump a voice to WAV, manipulate the EQ, and then merge the audio clip back into Cakewalk. Is there some plug-in for Cakewalk (or some equivalent product) which allows adding effects like EQ onto the output of a channel?

Thanks for any help you can provide.

Well, you can't really apply EQ to the midi data - it only tells a synth what sound to play, when and for how long. The only way you can change the sound is by passing the output of said synth through some form of EQ circuitry - which is, in a manner of speaking what you are doing now (by converting to a wav file first).

OTOH, since you are using soundfonts, you could tweak these in a soundfont editor first, although it's not a very practical solution.

Thanks, Graeme. I think I'll avoid editing the sound font files. That is more complex than dumping a channel to wav and merging back in. Someone recently told me that Microsoft has a DirectMusic product that is more flexible. I'll be looking into it. Thanks, again!
