When I play a .wav or .mp3 file I hear the file AND a high pitched distorted tone.
When I attempt to record, all I get is the high pitched distorted tone which manifests itself both visually (in CEP 1.2a) and as audio.
I've checked the Wave 8.24 soundcard by testing it in another system.
I've tested the cable that connects the wave 8.24 with its breakout box.
I've tested the breakout box.
For testing, the card and the breakout box completely are disconnected from my Mackie console.
When I listen to audio coming directly out of the breakout box (headphones into input one or two) I hear the distorted tone, yet all these components have been indedendently tested in a similar system and exhibit no problems.
Here are the specs of my workstation:
ASUS P3B-F motherboard/BIOS revsion 1008
256 MB pc100 Micron SDRAM
PIII600E CPU
GadgetLabs (may they rest in peace) Wave 8.24 soundcard/driver version 4.5
Annihilator Pro DDR/Creative Labs driver version 6.50
2 Western Digital hard drives
Linksys Etherfast 100MBs Router
Win98 SE
CEP 1.2a
*there is NO overclocking on this system-all specs are at default*
I've tried a ground lifter to no effect.
I'm scratching my head on this one...
