I am ordering a Dell 4100 series computer to use with Cool Edit Pro. It gives me a choice of sound cards. Sound Blaster Live or an upgrade to Turble Beach Santa Cruz DSP Sound Card. Is one preferable over the other for Cool Edit Pro?
Thanks for your help

I think it would be advantageous to just get the card which has the best audio specs. If they can't provide them for your comparison, you could check out http://www.pcavtech.com and look at their soundcard test pages to see if the cards are listed (they probably are - I haven't been in there recently).
All the best... -Jon

I'd go for the TB Santa Cruz. Check other messages about this board in this thread. See 'Turtle Beach Sound Card'
The SB Live! series does everything through its 48kHz on-board generator; there are no other recording flavors - no 44.1kHz. It is not as versital as the TB SC. This means if you want to burn a CD, your 48kHz must step the bits down to 44.1kHz before you burn. By doing so, you introduce more 'interperted' 'bits' for the ones that need to be generated between the 'spaces' in the 48kHz.
Also the SB Live! is a 16 bit board. The SC is a 18 a/d (& 20 d/a) bit board. More sampling, better fidelity!
