 how to get plug ins to show up

this might sound stupid but i know someone can help me out. well i found a lil web page that has some free plugins to download and i did just that on to my desktop. well i restarted my computer and check cool edit pro 2.0 to see if there was any new plugins and i did not see anything. am i doing something can some one give me a hand.

one must install them
then go to "effects"> "dx">
then "refresh this list"

.... assuming they are DX - if they are VST, you need a wrapper.

Right on both counts!! When you download a plug-in, you have to open the downloaded file and run the install program to make it ready for use. When you "refresh" your Transform list in CEP, it looks through your computer and finds it and adds it to the list. And.... as Oz mentions, CEP won't use a VST plug-in without a wrapper. You can find all sorts of "free" wrappers out on the internet.
