Yep, made me run for a copy (on floppies!) of "The Incredible Machine". Great stuff, even if only in vga.

I think it was "video graphics adaptor" but it might have been something else, I'm not that young anymore.

Okay, then, "Video Graphics Array" will work for VGA. Most systems nowadays are sold as SVGA (Super VGA). Note that these systems use a RAMDAC (random access memory digital-to-analog converter) that actually converts digital to analog signals for display. Prior systems were digital. Such as...
Well, I don't suppose you remember EGA (Enhanced Graphics Adaptor);
Or CGA (Color Graphics Adaptor - awful! - you'd go blind looking at these);
Or MDA (Monochrome Display Adaptor - that'd be text only);
Or Hercules (also Monochrome, but capable of a 720x384 single color graphics display);
Well. Anyway....
