Today in the shop - I work parttime in a music shop - came in a client who wanted to sell his AKG C3000 mic. I'm interested in buying the mic myself. On the internet I can find loads of info about the AKG C3000 B (silver mic) but I don't find much about the older the AKG C3000 (black mic).
Is this a good condesor mic? At the moment, I have a samson C01 condensor mic. Will this AKG C3000 be an true upgrade? My goals are recording acoustic guitars and vocals. |
Is the Pope a Catholic? Too damn right it's a true upgrade! Even a C3000 is still worth about 10x what the Samson is, and it's probably 10x as good. I don't think that there's much difference between the versions, but it will be worth checking the particular mic out carefully anyway - get somebody who knows what they're doing to look at the condition of it - you don't want one with a wrecked diaphragm.
Yes, I have lots of AKG mics, and one of those Samsons. If you do a search, you'll find out about the Samson... And yes, AKG mics of this calibre are great for acoustic guitars and vocals - they tend to have quite an 'airy' response, and are generally very accurate.
