 Cheap USB Audio Capture?

Do these things work relatively well? I'm thinking of something along the lines of the Edirol UA-1 or the iMic from Griffin Tech. Do they compare at all with lower end soundcards as far as the quality of imported/exported audio?

The Edirol device has been mentioned here before (maybe the other one too) - while waiting for a specific reply, search the forum for existing comments, although in the nature of things, people come here with problems rather than plaudits.
