The dB Audioware range of plug-ins has received some good comments in this forum - not only from me - since they represent good value for money.
They have a new kid on the block and I've just received some pre-release details. You can see these at;

If these new toys are priced as well as their existing ones (and that remains to be seen) they could be a nice addition to the collection.

Thanks Graeme. The studio pack looks particularly interesting. The "unique quantum-fx workbench" looks remarkably like Synthedit - which itself can be used for creating VST plugins - I wonder whether there's any connection?

You're right oz. It looks like synthedit.
And yes, db audioware's plug-ins are quite good. But I don't think they are (much) better than cep's.

I guess I can eat toast for the rest of the week - these look pretty good to me.
I like the looks of the equipment in the Studio pack, mastering limiter and multiband compressors as well as a multiband (5) maximizer which I haven't seen before. Unfortunately the example audio is a single acoustic guitar track, that seems real odd, so I'll have to test the demo on a full mix myself.
The workbench looks like a lot of fun too, I think I could try to build a 32band compressor on it !
db-audioware say they've spent 2 years on R&D for this new set that will be released in the [near] future. I'll be watching and waiting to try them out.
I have their DX mastering plugs and I learned something about compression with them and they were a good value but I can't make them sound very good (flat is the sound I get, but not transparent) compared to my PSP plugs (somewhat comparable in price). But I still bring them out from time to time, I was using them this week for a test. It will take a lot to beat the Voxengo Elephant mastering limiter that is comparably priced (I suspect).
All of this competition is great for the consumer, thanks for the cool plugin tip !
Ed. I forgot to say I'm learning the art of home mastering, project studio grade stuff and don't run a business [yet] like some of you folks.

I don't like the look of those knobs... aesthetically they're nice but they're usually hard to operate with a mouse, IMO.

Try using a trackball. Much better control than a mouse.

I think I'll stick to using a keyboard, using programs with easy-to-use instead of slick-looking UIs. :P
I don't mean that to be a comment on this particular product because I haven't used it, but those knobs just don't look friendly ;)

I think it's really a matter of "personal" preference. I (for one) am comfortable with my present mouse.

In general, I'd agree with you - keyboard control can be a lot better than *any* point and click device - but, unfortunately, not every application allows for it and if it otherwise does the job required at the price you want to pay, then you have to swallow your pride and use a mouse (or whatever).

We'll obviously have to wait and see what they're like in practice. All I can say at this stage is the existing software from these guys is very easy to control (certainly using a trackball) and you can also enter a lot of values direct from the keyboard as well. If the new stuff is no worse in this respect, then it wouldn't count as a point against it for me.
