When I get a waveform in edit view and play it, I can hear it fine thru my soundcard/speakers. When I go to multitrack view and try to play, there is no sound at all. I have tweaked all the settings I can think of, and even put in 2 sound cards. I think both soundcards are only half-duplex, but that shouldnt even matter if I'm not trying to record, right??? In multitrack view after I press play, the level meters jump around for a second and then level out, even though there are waveforms that should be playing. Seems very strange to me. I have tried reinstalling twice, didnt fix the problem. I am running an older system AMDII 400mhz 328mb RAM Soundblaster16 soundcard, but I dont think that is the problem either. Anyone have any ideas??

What version of CE are you using? If you have a version which has "Options > Device Properties" are you quite sure you have the correct setup there? Using one soundcard (and I'd suggest sticking to one for starters) you should have only that specified as a device in the 'Wave Out' and 'Wave in' tabs, with "Use in EV" ticked, and don't have "wave mapper" selected (normally).
(I have to admit that in checking my own settings to ensure this post is accurate, I found they were wrong! How did that happen?!)

I am running Cool Edit Pro version 2.0, and yes I have fooled around with the Device Settings and Device order. They are all pointed to the correct sound card. I know this because I get sound in the edit view, just not in multitrack view. This is really starting to piss me off...

So when you press the "Out1' button to the left of the track, you see the correct output device? I'd try prosupport@syntrillium.com (I think that's correct) with this one if nobody else has any ideas.

Yes, I have the OUTs pointed at the correct soundcard also.
When I installed CE 2.0, I began by installing the demo version. I then ran the registration executable and "unlocked" the full version. Would this have anything to do with my problem?

OK, I uninstalled everything. I downloaded the Cool Edit Pro demo version from the syntrillium website. Installed it just fine. SAME PROBLEM. No sound when i press play in multitrack view. I can hear the individual waveforms in Edit view. I give up! Help...

Before Voodoo asks - did you contact support? This problem must be something bizarre which they could talk or email you through. Or something you will kick yourself over when they point out what you've done!
