The deal on the RR is tempting, 'cept I generally do all my tracking with a different package.

2 questions:

1: Does the RR come in handy when mixing, or is it pretty much just for use while recording?

2: Does the RR emulate a keyboard or multimedia keyboard buttons? - can the buttons be remapped so some of the functions might be useful for other things besides CEP?

Is there a deal? Sounds interesting... The word on the street is that the loop button is not remappable. This is all i have heard so far.

There's certainly a 'dwal', if you buy the boxed version.

I don't know about any of that, I'm going to find a use for it, no matter what, since it came for free.

Well, if all Red Rover is doing is sending midi messages then all the buttons are remappable using translation software.

(See "Bome's Midi Translator" http://www.bome.com/midi/translator/)

I think the $49 dollar deal is pretty good, and yes, I just ordered one myself.
Cool

I received my Red Rover today and there does not seem to be an easy way to remap its controls. If you're looking for a standalone controller for something other then CEP I'd look elsewhere. Cool

You can remap the Add Cue AND Metronome buttons.

OPTIONS > DEVICE PROPERTIES > EXT. CONTROLLER

You can remap some keys for use with CEP. However, to answer the original question, there doesn't appear to be a way to use RR with any other applications. RR is not a mixer. It functions as a "transport" control and has other controls to facilitate recording in CEP only. Cool

When you select an external controller the "configure" button becomes active. From there you can remap RR's "Cue" and "Metronome" buttons. 8)

Yes, AFAIK external controls weren't fully implemented until CEP 2.1. Cool

I have an extra Red Rover. And, yes, you can do remapping on the Add Cue and Metronome buttons, via the OPTIONS menu.

My extra Red Rover has been used only once to test whether two RRs could be used simultaneously (they cannot).

Will part with it at Syntrillium's deal price ($49), if you will also pay the shipping...we can use PayPal to do the transaction since I don't take credit cards (no reason to).

Drop me an email.
