I was doing a lot of compressing in 2.1 last week and suddenly it stopped working. So a couple of days ago, I uninstalled and reinstalled. Although the new installation of 2.1 now does compression like it should, it doesn't play back sessions like it should - I get sessions that played okay before, but which now have certain tracks at low volume, despite the track information appearing the way it should.

Why should an re-installation of 2.1 not read previous sessions the way it should?

BTW: my Cool Edit 1.2 still reads and plays the sessions correctly. It's just the reinstallation of 2.1 that's screwing up.

Dobro, you've probably already thought of this, but: have you defragged lately? When I go more than a few days without defragging all sorts of weird things start happening with CEP for me - some like you're describing: output not matching settings, etc.

Also: I found a bug awhile ago that seems to be present in both 2.0 and 2.1, which is that *sometimes* (not always) if I have eq (parametric or graphic) locked on a track, it will not register on playback or mixdown until I go into the effects rack, open the eq, then close it.

Do you have any locked eq effects on the tracks that are malfunctioning?

Chris
