I currently own CE2K, and I noticed that with the acquisition of this software from Adobe, they offer the upgrade from CE2K to CEP2.1 for $99 plus s/h and taxes. Whereas Syntrillium is charging $199 for the upgrade to CEP2.1, so my question is, "is the upgrade that Adobe sells exactly the same that Syntrillium sells... no missing pieces from Adobes version???"
Thanks in advance.

It's a re-badge of the same software.
Wait.
;)

Yes, it's a rebadge - but I'm not sure it's a good idea to wait.

As it stands, it's a 'good deal' being offered by Adobe, but there's nothing to say they will continue it forever. Once Audition is officially released and Syntrillium as a company has closed its doors, they could charge whatever they liked for it.

Also, what about when they release a real upgraded version of Audition? I suspect those who are still running the Syntrillium version will be asked to pay more than those running the Adobe one - which is precisely why I will be in the queue for the free crossgrade to Audition, even though I'm not likely to use it in its current form.

What do you mean by "free crossgrade to Audition"? Do you mean that current registered owners of CE2K or CEPro might get upgraded to Audition w/o any charges?
To be honest with you, I am willing to place my order at any time. The features offered by CEPro (Audition) surpass my needs, but I think it's good deal to get such software for that prices, dont you think so???
I wonder why user of this forum are not posting messages saying that they already upgraded to such version. I guess they have more caution that I might be.

Adobe have offered to provide a free crossgrade to Audition for current CEP2.x owners. In truth, this merely means they are giving us another copy of the same program, only with Adobe's name all over it.

However, it's my belief that, when they do finally release a 'real' upgrade, it may well cost owners of earlier (Syntrillium) versions of CEP more than it will cost owners of an Adobe branded product. This is pure conjecture on my part (plus a little cynicism about the way big companies minds think) - but, since it costs nothing to accept the crossgrade, there's no reason to turn it down. Nobody is forcing you to install it and it might prove useful to be an Adobe client at some future date.

For this sort of reason, I upgraded to CEP2.1 - even though I actually use v1.2a for my work (I'm not that happy with 2.1 for various reasons that aren't important to this discussion). When the crossgrade offer becomes available, I'll also do that. That way, I will have the latest version (apertaining to Adobe) if they do sort out the roblems which I perceive in the current release - and, hopefully, that means I can upgrade at the lowest cost. Really, I'm just hedging my bets at little cost to myself.

As fas as CE2K is concerned, this is now an obsolescent product and will shortly die completely. The upgrade from this to CEP/AA2.1 is a good offer and I think it should be taken advantage of, unless you honestly can't envisage a time when the additional facilities offered by CEP/AA might be useful to you.

Yes, I do - which is why I said you shouldn't wait. Upgrade to CEP 2.1 and then do the crossgrade when it becomes available from Adobe (which will be free).

No - it's far simpler than that. Adobe have not yet released the re-badged version. It's supposed to be due sometime this month and I assume current owners will get an email when it is.

You can find out more details of the offer/s on the Adobe site.

...which is precisely why I said to wait. Adobe always has this "pre-order" schtick for all their products, as if it would get you a copy faster than the next shmuck who orders it when it becomes available. I really don't think they'll backtrack on their offer to CE2K owners once the rebadge is ready - they would be pissing-off a lot of people!
I just don't believe in pre-ordering something unless there's an advantage to it, and in this particular case, there is none.

Best... -Jon
