Alright, this may sound like a weird question--but I'm looking for a program that can generate waveforms based on mathematical values, like frequency. Like if I type in 260 and hit "square", it gives me a square wave with frequency 260. And so on. Also, I'm looking for something that would allow you to "draw" out your own waveform, or generate a composite wave form from adding a bunch of waveforms of single frequency. I guess you would call what I'm looking for a kind of additive sythesizer, but on steroids. Can Cool Edit do this kind of stuff? For some reason I want to say yes...but I'm just not sure. If not, does anyone know where I should look? Thank you so much for any help.

Peace out,

Ya you can construct waveforms np. Cool It takes some work though.

I constructed a number of different waveforms by additive synthesis [up to 40 harmonics] to test my sensitivity to phase-shift at different mid frequencies and in different combinations. I discovered that i [and maybe you too:]] can discern relative phase only as long as there is an after-image from the previous phase condition fading away. the other only way is if the phase of a harmonic is constantly shifting. :P

Another way is to generate a square-wave file, then using fft filter surgically remove sections or individual harmonics to create new wave-shapes. Shy
