I was running Cool Edit PRO v1.2a with no glitch on my Win2000SP2 box with these plugins:
Clone Ensemble's Bass Chorus
iZotope's Vinyl
Oberheim's OB-Tune
rgcAudio's High Frequency Stimulator
rgcAudio's Reverb
Then I installed Anteres Auto-Tune v3.01. Now everytime I run a DirectX plug, cep12a freezes. I've unistalled all DX plugs and reinstalled and still nothing. I've tried cleaning my registry manually and with AnalogX's DX Unistaller. Nothing's working. Even tried individual installs on each plug and same thing happens. Funny thing is that cep2demo runs the DX plugs fine.
Anyone have any clues on what's giving me problems?

Sounds like you corrupted a CEP1.2a system file! I haven't had it happen to me, but a friend did basically the same thing with Antares Mic Modeler (he got it off Morpheus I think!@?) and it nuked his Cool Edit. He had to uninstall/reinstall CEP1.2. Your problem might not be as severe. Good Luck Voodoo

I agree - I don't run any of the specific plug-ins mentioned (other than the Auto-tune) but I do have some eighty-odd in total and no problems with any of them (under Win98)

Thanx. Will try and remove files manually since uninstall doesn't seem to work.

I had Auto-Tune 3 DirectX and it would not load. I also have a BBE Sonic Maximizer in DirectX format, which worked fine. Then I upgraded to CEP 2.0 and IT wouldn't load! Both were similar: I got a "This program has performed an illegal operation" message and it would shut down the program.
I went to Syntrillium's Knowledge Base and searched for "Illegal Operation"; I printed the instructions that came up, which involve renaming a file extension in CEP, uninstalling, defragging, rebooting and reinstalling. When I rebooted, WIndows made me start in Command Prompt mode, found and reset an incorrectly set device, and now Auto-Tune AND CEP 2.0 load and run without problems. Ron Day, Syntrilliium Technical Support Lead, was enormously helpful (and fast: I emailed Tech Thursday evening, and had a response Friday).
Antares was also fast, and told me to download v3.03, which I did. I installed it after I did the Syntrililium sequence, so I don't know if the new version helped, or if Auto-Tune profited by the resetting that the reboot caused...I suspect the latter.
Anyhow, it would be worth a try to get Auto-Tune to work...it worked on mine.
