As this newbie keeps winding his way through the labyrinth, ever more questions crop up. One of them is the support offered for the different mp3 encoders available in CE2. Right now it seems that only Fraunhofer's is supported.

I was wondering how difficult is would be to add more mp3 encoders (and/or encoding formats) to CE, which is such an accomplished program already? One very good mp3 encoder that I sorely miss is the Lame encoder. My family & friends reached consensus that in the mp3 line-up, LAME is very hard to beat (especially when encoding at higher bit rates). At lower rates (<128kbps) we found FhG unbeatable. I realise that it is nigh impossible to include support for them all.

In closing, I would like to break a lance for Musepack (*.mpc), the compression format I personally use to encode my CD collection for archiving onto harddisk. Those who are not familiar with the encoder (formerly known as mp+) may want to have a look at it over here-

Now, siiigghh, if only Synt. could add support for Lame and Musepack, I suspect it will put many, many people over the top! :)
