Is it possible to use a direct-x plugin to save in a format that cool edit does not have for example using the plugin to convert to a MP2.

Sure, but the plug-in's code would specifically have to support the format. And you'd probably have to have CEP mixdown first as it doesn't make sense (to me at least) for the plug-in to deal with multi tracks. - Twang

I believe that it is possible to write .flt code that will enable other formats to be saved within CEP - you don't need a DX-plugin to do this. I seem to recall that there is a .flt for at least one of the lossless formats available - I can't remeber which. I've not heard of an MP2 one though. Anybody got any ideas?

I think there was a CEP plug in for Monkee Audio lossess compression.

Yes, there is an "ape" .flt floating around...

I'm not a programmer, but I'm sure anyone that could write a .flt could manage to "save as" just about anything, directly out of CE. And I know that there are some code-slingers lurking around here...
;)

Best... -Jon

The easiest way to use MP2 within CEP is to find the coolmp32.exe MP2 filter. It was available on the Syntrillium website years ago, but they got rid of it as it was beta, and could be notoriously unstable ... though mine's been fine for years now living within 1.2a. If you do a Google search on coolmp32.exe you should still be able to download it from somewhere.

If you just want to open an MP2 you can do that with CEP 2.0. Select OPEN FILE, and EXTRACT FROM VIDEO. Works like a charm.
