I think that's a good idea, Voodoo. I believe a lot of the clutter, however, is folks playing with a new toy. I know that's the case with the one I started.
If polls were in their own category, I'd retract my "only MD can creat polls" vote, because it would be easy to ignore them if they got out of hand.

Or let's make a compromise: everybody can post polls in the Polls category, and only the MD can post polls in all the other categories.
These ones would be the 'official' polls.

I'm with Lyon on that one.

Yep, Lyons idea is good. The playing will slow down, as with all new toys. But I must say most were informative.

The wording of the "answers" in this poll could have been a little more objective, although I was laughing when I read them :)
FYI: The polls are still in testing (which you guys found a bug - now fixed) and as far as if/how they will be implemented is yet to be determined and ultimately the "M.D." would make that decision. We are reading them and considering your ideas.
Personally I have enjoyed the polls that have been generated; they've been fun and informative. One thing that has proven itself over and over, with all of the new features is this; overwhelmingly members of this forum have shown the ability to be responsible, helpful to others and a little sassy (fun). So thank you for all that you do here, it makes my job a blast.
Paul

Cheers to that. And I too would like to extend my appreciation to all of our 'fab' members. Keep up the good work!
The polls are still in the trial period; let's wait and see.

Since this is a poll about polls, i find it extremely curious that maybe 20% of the readers actually respond...
Well, maybe in reality that's not bad. The number of readers indicates people are coming here for information. No doubt many readers are avid users of CE in all its forms and quite possibly are progressing just fine with all the advice offered here.
I do notice that often a user will chime in with "Been using CE for quite some time...", which shows they've been getting along fine but have come up against a problem.
Come to think of it, sometimes, as Paul the Webmeister says, the threads can get rather, and (usually) civilly, spicey (nasty, his word), so there is also great entertainment value here.

I don't know if this is a bug or intentional, but in one of the polls currently running I didn't bother voting initially (I was on my way out and in a hurry) but wanted to see the results in so far. Now I can't vote and get the results as soon as I enter the thread. Is this right? BTW I'd really go along with djlyon's idea.

Thanks for bringing this up, it was discussed before. This isn't a bug. If a member views a poll, without voting then they cannot vote on that poll.

Thanks for relocating the polls! Of course, "my Poll" was only a friendly poke in the ribs. As for all the folks who didn't "vote", I suspect that they assumed I was instigating trouble (which I wasn't) and didn't want to be a part of it. That's cool..... I DO think that the polls are a great idea and should bring forth some cool information about users and their equipment.

Thanks Voodoo. I can always get instant response from you guys (good or bad) ;)
I'll keep looking for new "features" to keep the forums ever improving (hopefully). I am "feature-boy" you know.

"Feature Boy" ain't so bad! I'm in a Homebrew Club here in Houston and we have one member that shows up to every pub-crawl/function wearing a kilt! He has been aptly dubbed... "Skirt Boy"! Personally, (if I had to have a moniker) I would definitely prefer "Feature Boy" over "Skirt Boy".

Thanks, I think. BTW - IPA's rule.
