Some questions - Which version of Cool Edit? Any particular plug-in? Did it work before with this particular combination?

Thanks for replys.

I`m using version 1.2a with Direct x 8.1
I`ve got about 4 different DX plugins availible, but I can`t get any to work, CEp just freezes the moment I click on a plugin.
I have had them working before and as far as I know nothing has changed.

"...with Direct x 8.1..."

The reason I asked, is I distinctly remember someone posting once about a problem with 8.0, if I remember the thread correctly, they had mislocated a DX.dat file.

If the standard ('well nothing else seems to work') uninstalling, defragging drive, regclean, reinstalling does not take care of the problem. Contacting tech serv is your next step.

I've replied to these types of problems a couple of times (theoretically responses are in archieves) so I won't list details of my experimentation here . . . my unconfirmed suspicion is that symptons you describe stem from a registry conflict

there are a couple of different work arounds for different systems but whether tech serv. will actually say anything besides 'not our problem, man' is kind of an open question

good luck

I actually had this problem a couple of weeks prior to the original post. Any DX plug-in I tried to use froze CE and I had to "end task" out of it. A reinstall fixed it.
