When I received my UA-1000 from Edirol I noticed there was a second CD in the package with an update to the USB drivers and stack for WindowsXP. This is a Hot Fix that has been published by Microsoft and can be found by searching for 822603 in the Knowledge Base.

According to my contact at Edirol this fixes a lot of issues with USB and USB2 devices by reworking the USB stack and installing new software for controlling USB devices.

Direct link for the article on this subject below.

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;822603&Product=winxp

A link to the updated software can also be found on this page.

If you are having trouble with any USB device I suggest trying this Hot Fix.

You also might try ticking the setting in System Properties / Advanced / Performance Options / Processor scheduling / Background services to give priority to Background services. USB and USB2 are background services.

Hope this helps.
